The Zeela Food Art Culturelogue may sound different! The programme intends to popularize our Zambian Food Heritage based on the 3 values of Zeela Art Gallery, namely Nature, Culture and Art. We intend to document traditional foods of Zambia for posterity, knowledge and enjoyment. The program is designed to popularise our rural communities as the custodians of our Food Heritage and to engage and encourage the urban community become celebrants of our food-culture. Children are initiated as a legacy carrier of this possession. Look out for the ‘Zeela Cook of the Year’ to held annually.
The theme for 2023 is: Kisha Washa: Traditional Food for Sustenance and Heritage identity
At Zeela, we embrace the local knowledge of our communities as a basis for creative and innovative enterprise. We promote the interconnectedness between Nature, Culture and Art through research, documentation, publications, and exhibitions. All our art collections such as stone sculptures. wood sculptures, metal sculptures, and paintings are embedded in the natural and the cultural span of our environments. The art dialogue is a continuation of our fore fathers and mothers African Being!
